Radnor vs. Marple Newtown Preview - featuring Chris Long

It's that time of year again folk's. The leaves have turned, the air has turned crisp & cool, and my colleague Chet Runway has been fired from another job for unruly behavior. You know what this means... the PLAYOFFS are nearly upon us.

From here on out, every game means more. This Friday's game is no exception. The Raider's host the Marple Newtown Tigers in a rematch of last years playoff thriller that was recently voted the Best Game in Radnor Football History by fans.

As promised, I had the pleasure of speaking with fan favorite and brand new member of the #RadnorFootballFamily, Chris Long, of KSTP TV, who offered the following.

Chris's Prediction:

"I'm sure amazing memories of Jahmir Rider's catch at the gun to win last year's playoff clash with Marple Newtown are still swirling in Raider fans' heads. But, as *any* Chris Long would tell you... that was last year.

The Raiders motivation ahead of this year's regular season finale has to be looking up the playoff seedings at the Tigers. I also imagine the Radnor seniors want to leave everything on the field in their final regular season game at Prevost Field.

This one won't be easy, but I'm backing the Raiders to hold off a late Tiger rally to win it 34-27, thereby earning a final position a few rungs higher up the D-1 5A seedings."

Final Score: Radnor 34 - Marple Newtown 27

Ed's Prediction:

Chris is right. That playoff game was last year, per source. The Tigers will surely use that as motivation in a hard fought game between two playoff contenders. The Raiders came out strong against Conestoga last week and didn't look back, while the Tigers suffered a crushing defeat to Haverford last week.

The Tigers will come out hungry, but I believe that the Raiders will be motivated behind their seniors and will pull out the victory late in the game.

Final Score: Radnor 35 - Marple Newtown 28
