Central League Football Bubble? Who Say's No?
I don't know about you guys (and girls), but I am JONESIN' for some high school foot ball. If this were any normal year, I'd be busy
As you all know, the Central League made the disappointing decision to postpone fall sports last Friday, contrary to what I was hearing from my friends at the Wawa in Wayne. My Journalism style is entirely bassed on keeping my ear to the ground and my finger on the pulse of the great people of Radnor, but I need to do a better job of vetting my sources. That's something that the Ethics Committee at Radnor Rundown told me I need to work on, and I will. Believe me, I don't take this job lightly.
However, that will not stop me from braindumping my big ideas out to the masses. There's a lot of junk in this big ol' head of mine like old Radnor stats and the entire menu of Chili's, but there's some gold in there too. My latest golden nugget - Central League Football Bubble.
Point of the matter is this - if we can create a "bubble" for athletes to play basketball and hockey safely, then we can definitely do this for football. I have outlined my plan below.
Host Venue: Radnor Hotel & Prevost Field
The Radnor Hotel is the nicest 3-star hotel I've ever had the privilege of living near. Every room has a great view of either Prevost Field or the Radnor Financial Center. When it's time to play foot ball, Prevost Field and Radnor's wonderful practice facilities are right acrossed the street.
Meals/Catering: Honeygrow, Jimmy John's, Campus Corner, New Wayne Pizza, YOU NAME IT
There are plenty of great food options near the Radnor Hotel. The Central League Football Bubble would be a godsend for all of the small businesses I have listed above.
Coronavirus Testing: Yes
"School": Our student-athletes are already familiar with virtual classes, so there won't be much of an adjustment here.
Alcohol: For coaches & Journalists only (except Chet - don't ask)
Money???: Yes, this will cost a lot of money. Two solutions here:
1. Sponsors. Everything will be sponsored. Sell naming rights to everything. Sell ads all over the field. Sell ads on the helmets & jerseys. Radnor Rundown will also graciously donate 3% of ad revenue to the Central League. No need to thank us in advance.
2. Pay-per-view streaming. Since Governor Tim Wolf probably won't allow fans at the games, we will stream them online and charge a fee.
Unlike the bubble, these ideas are all free. Now it's time to get this in front of the right people and LET'S PLAY SOME FOOTBALL. Who say's no to that?
