Playoffs?! That's right. PLAYOFFS. In case you live under one of those big rocks on the corner of Radnor Chester Road & Raider Road, the Radnor Red Raiders (5-5) will be traveling to take on the Penn Wood Patriots (6-4) this Friday in the first round of the PIAA District 1 5A playoffs. This will be a tough test for the Raiders, but if there's one thing that the #RadnorFootballFamily knows, it's that this team is up for the challenge.

After digesting all of the film that I could get my hand's on, I have a few thoughts about this game:
  • Penn Wood has some VERY ugly uniforms
  • I don't like ANY team called the Patriots
  • Penn Wood likes to run single-high Cover 1 defense, so expect DiLella to stretch the field. Dixon could have a big game. Expect PW to stack the box on early downs.
  • Will the Raiders make the necessary adjustments to their pass defense after last week's loss? Or will they lay down and do nothing like that BUM Howie Roseman!

Common Opponents:

Chichester
PW won 40-19, Radnor won 24-17

Springfield
PW won 42-8, Radnor lost 10-7

Upper Darby
PW won 44-25, Radnor lost 27-20

Oof.

Celebrity Picks:

For a game of this magnitude, I decided to search far & wide for local celebrities who were willing to offer their thoughts on the game.

Jon Marks - 94WIP (@JonMarksMedia)
Radnor 20 - Penn Wood 17

Grotzie - Delco Times (@delcosportsBob)
Penn Wood 20 - Radnor 18
"Desman Johnson leaves it all on the field to atone for last year's setback."

Carson Smith - Radnor High School (@smith3_carson)
Radnor 28 - Penn Wood 14
"Belveal will run all over Penn Wood defense."

Chet Runway - Radnor Rundown (@ChetRunway)
Radnor 21 - Penn Wood 14
"Playoff football is won in the trenches. Radnor will get it done in a tough, hard fought win."

Jill Demmy - #1 Radnor Fan (@RabaRSBmomma)
Penn Wood 28 - Radnor 14
"This is going to be a tough game for our Raiders - no doubt they are the underdog. I think they will come on the field having learned a lot from last week's loss. Anything can happen in this game so I'm not counting them out. I know they will put up a strong fight and give it all they got. I hope my Raiders prove me wrong. GO RAIDERS!!"

Chili's - Grill & Bar (@Chilis)
(No prediction)
"We think Penn Wood is going to get off to a hot start but Radnor is going to come back in the second half for a really interesting finish."

Dr. Jankus - Twitter (@Ballso14)
Radnor 35 - Penn Wood 3
"I remember when foot ball first started and you were be lucky to make it off the field with everyone still alive. This 2019 Radnor team reminds me of those days, with their grit and undying ability to capitalize on wins and bounce back from losses. It's going to be a long night for Penn Wood, who, despite outscoring opponents 103-40 in October, will be dominated on both sides of the ball. I'm getting tired of all these people saying Radnor 'doesn't have enough ass' to throw the ball downfield. Expect DiLella to put on a clinic like he's Pop F***ing Warner. I guarantee a win for the Red Raiders -- a statement win. A win that will give the rest of the bracket restless leg syndrome so they can't sleep at night. If you are a Radnor fan, get fired up. If you aren't, get buckled up."

Total:
Radnor - 4
Penn Wood - 2

Average score: Radnor 22 - Penn Wood 16

Well there you have it, folk's. Averages converge to the truth, and it looks like this will be no exception.

Ed's Pick

I'm predicting a physical game. Period. I'll take Radnor on a late 2 point conversion for the win.

Final Score: Radnor 29 - Penn Wood 28
